The certificate for School Administrators with an Emphasis on Student Services has evolved from the need for quality professional development for practicing school administrators. This certificate provides the opportunity for administrators to remain current in issues that address student services and learn methods for developing and evaluating student services programs at their sites.

The Certificate for School Administrators with an Emphasis on Student Services program is designed to help administrators obtain a better understanding of the new changes and laws affecting student services stemming from such sources as: the National Standards for School Counseling Programs; the National Model for School Counseling Programs and the California Commission on Teaching Credentialing (CCTC) Standards for School Counseling and Child, Welfare and Attendance. School administrators are expected to develop, and evaluate student services at their school sites and need to remain current as to new developments and requirements for school counselors and child welfare and attendance coordinators.

The Certificate program includes 17 units of core courses. Coursework emphasizes the development of skills and knowledge necessary to the implementation and evaluation of a successful student services program.
