Reading Certificate

The Certificate in Reading program has been approved by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing. Candidates who complete the program will be eligible for the Certificate in Reading and will also have met the prerequisite first half of a state-approved Reading Specialist Credential program.

The purpose of the Reading Certificate program is to prepare educators to assist their students to read and write clearly, creatively, critically, skillfully, and effectively. The program emphasizes the early and continuing development of reading and language arts skills, as well as the expeditious implementation of strategies for avoidance or correction of reading difficulties.
