University study is a challenge for every student, but especially for students who choose to study internationally and in their second language. If you are preparing for undergraduate or graduate study in North America, the University Admission Preparation Program (UAPP) provides you the skills you need to become a successful student in a North American college or university.
Students who do not provide an approved English assessment test score are tested upon arrival and may be advised to attend the Intensive English Program (pages 8 and 9) instead.
UAPP focuses on instruction in university study skills, including academic reading, writing and research skills. Highly experienced instructors prepare you for the challenges of academic work and life on a North American campus. The core courses include:
• Vocabulary and Critical Reading
• Academic Skills
• Academic Writing
• Speaking for Academic Purposes

Electives
UAPP students choose one elective class in addition to their regular program of study. Choices may include the following:
• TOEFL Review
• Advanced Vocabulary
• Public Speaking
• GRE and GMAT preparation
Program Highlights
• 10-week intensive sessions
• 25-28 hours of study each week
• Offered each winter, spring, summer and fall
• Advanced-level English required (minimum TOEFL
500 PBT, 61 iBT; IELTS 5.0; TOEIC 600 or IEP
level 600)
• Small classes (average 15 students per class)
• Opportunity to take university classes at no additional costs
• Minimum age: 17
